Purpose of Energy Modeling
Energy -Modeling is a virtual simulation that focuses on energy consumption, utility bills and life cycle costs of a building or complex. An Energy Model is to provide an integrated approach to building design in order to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption. Apart from construction or operational costs, the energy consumed by a building throughout its effective lifetime relates to one of the biggest cost to the environment as well as to building owners. Energy Modeling enables building owners to create new building or retrofit existing buildings that perform better than similar structures.
Green Certification
An Energy Model is required for Green certification such as LEED, Green Mark, GreenRE etc.
Energy Modeling enables a compare and contrast analysis between Proposed Model (designed building) against the Reference Model (baseline building). The proposed model must perform better than the reference model in relations to annual energy savings as a result of better design, selection of equipment and lower building envelope thermal transmittance etc
