First Building Project in Bangkok to utilise passive, stack effect ventilation analysis with CFD

Thailand, Bangkok - Located in the heart of Bangkok, on Soi Pramuan. This luxurious project is a harmonious blend of royal heritage and modern ingenuity. Set to be completed in the third quarter of 2020, the Lofts Silom is a 37-storey freehold condominium.

The Lofts Silom was designed to bring nature and a sense of place into the bustling heart of Bangkok. The lush green spaces and naturally ventilated building design were well planned ahead. A Computational Fluids Dynamics (CFD) study was commissioned for the design optimisation of a comfortable thermal environment within common areas of the development by using natural ventilation strategies.

As a rule of thumb, buildings should always be arranged to give clear passage for wind flow. The CFD study had enabled us to visualize airflows. CFD uses numerical analysis and data structures to solve and analyse problems that involve fluid flows and it provides insights into flow patterns that are difficult, expensive or impossible to study using traditional techniques.

The primary design element includes extensive greening of the external and interior facade of the lofts, instilling the occupants with a sense of being embraced in the loving arms of mother nature. As seasonal winds cross paths, fresh air permeates the common areas creating a comfortable thermal environment.
