Driving Decarbonisation through Energy Efficiency in the Built Environment

It’s a pleasure to have been invited to speak at the launch of Infrastructure Asia's AIF Conversations series in Bangladesh. Together with Aamra Group, Infrastructure Asia brought together international experts on decarbonisation in the built environment industry to share and discuss best practices for energy efficiency. The workshop was attended by Bangladesh public and private sector stakeholders in the spirit of the national pledge to reduce carbon emissions by 21.8% by 2030.

In her speech titled “Driving Decarbonisation through Energy Efficiency in the Built Environment”, our senior partner, Farizan d’Avezac de Moran, emphasized the need to understand energy efficiency as a critical part of decarbonization, focusing on mix-performance-driven efficiency rather than solely technology-driven efficiency.

At GreenA, we hope to support Asia’s economic and social growth via infrastructure development, as envisioned in UN SDG9. Hope to see mo

    Mitigating the Heat: Cool Roofs

“The technology is already available. Do both, if you will, but just do it.”

Our founding partner, Farizan, weighs in on the adoption of Cool Roof technology in CNA’s Money Mind episode on Singapore's property market.

Cool Roofs, as the name suggests, help keep buildings and its occupants cool. This is due to the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect, a phenomenon resulting in warmer urban environments. Cool Roof coatings reflect more sunlight than conventional paints, reducing internal building temperatures. Similarly, Cool Roofs help to cool the environment as well. Reflecting more sunlight reduces the amount of heat transferred from the roofs to the air, lowering urban air temperatures and lessening the UHI effect. In essence, the higher the solar reflective index of roof paints, the more effective it is in cooling the environment.

Yet, different Cool Roof coatings have diffe
