The Food and Beverage industry, being dependent on the Earth’s natural resources, always finds itself on the receiving end of the effects of climate change. With increasing temperatures and unpredictable weather phenomenon becoming a part of our day-to-day life, Danone has adopted a holistic approach towards sustainability and its new office in Singapore. GreenA successfully helped Danone AP HQ achieve the Green Mark Platinum rating for Office Interiors.

Since 2007, Danone has been conscious of its carbon footprint and has since made huge strides to reduce it. Danone has since managed to reduce its carbon emissions by almost half (46%). With the company’s future business development plans aimed at reducing their overall environmental impact, they are definitely on their way towards greening their entire value chain. Along with this, they continue to work to co-build solutions with their farmers and suppliers.

Danone’s Singapore Office

Danone’s Singapore office was designed to retain as much of the existing structure as possible. The final design retained at least 50% of the existing building’s finishing for walls, flooring and ceiling. This design decision reduced the amount of construction waste and the scope of work for the contractor. Along with this, selection of mechanical systems such as HVAC and lighting fixtures provided us with an energy saving of 30%. Similarly, with the selection of efficient water fittings, we were able to conserve up to 50% of water over the conventional benchmark.

The selection of materials was given special attention, with the use of SGBC/SGLS certified product, carpet, paints, raised-floor, partition board, laminates and timber flooring. The strict standards in the interior material selection, assured us of minimal VOC presence and use of sustainable raw materials in the products.

To ensure the continued performance and maintenance of the office, a post occupancy evaluation was conducted. This provided the employees, facilities management and consultants with valuable feedback on the interior environment quality and the performance of key equipment.
